Report on Monday CodePink disruption of the Petraeus hearing in the House. Led by Tallahassee's own Lydia Vickers (that's her standing on the chair shouting down the 'good' general...
What a fabulous start in D.C. CODEPINK (Desiree, Barbara, Lelsie A., Medea B., Mona, Arizona Liz,
and Lydia), IVAW, Col. Wright, David Swanson and others waited almost four hours this morning to
go into the Petraeus Report hearing. CODEPINK co-founder Gael Murphy was refused entrance and tried in vane to get in the room. One of the Capitol officers had his panties in a wad and decided only 7 of us could go in. Even Medea couldn't change his sorry mind. Cindy Sheehan and her sister DeDe arrived about 30 minutes before the hearing started and were refused entrance. The up-tight cop actually gave us little blue pieces of paper with numbers on them 1-7.
Debby gave up her number so Col. Wright could get in. In the mean time, The Honorable Rev. Yearwood had been in line with us for about 2 hours. Just as we started to go in he was pulled from the line for "cutting in" - it's sooooooooooo high school.....

Please RSVP to join CODEPINK Tallahassee in the August 28th MoveOn effort telling representatives all over the country that we are not going to stand for the unbelievable waste and expense of this war in Iraq. We want the troops home NOW!
We have lots of PINK or, come with your group, or just come as you are. Just Join In! These August actions could directly effect the votes our representatives make in September. The September votes will directly effect when American troops can begin leaving Iraq. Every day means more lives lost at an impossible financial cost to Americans.
Many locals groups are going to participate. CODEPINK Tallahassee would love to help you have a blast and tell our reps to bring our soldiers home. More info on time/place for this event will be available soon.
Thanks for all you do and Peace, Lydia
CodePINK and other Peace orginzations to Meet with Florida's Senior Senator, Bill Nelson
Lydia Vickers is joining Florida For Peace in a sit-down meeting with Florida's Senior Senator, Bill Nelson on Tuesday, August 7th. Ten of us will represent 8 Florida activists groups. We are discussing his voting record, specifically his votes on the war in Iraq and torture amendments.
She would love to hand deliver a letter from you to him. Please consider writing a letter and e-mailing it to us so Lydia can deliver it, in person.
Sunday, August 5th is the deadline for the letters because she will be leaving mid morning on Monday, August 6.
The second best thing to meeting in person is having your letter hand delivered. We hope you will join this effort and distribute this widely.
Please send letters to codepinktally@yahoo.com
Thanks for all you do. Peace

OKAY FLORIDA PEACE MAKERS
Not only did our US Senator, Bill Nelson vote to give Bush $100 million with no time lines this past month but he also was the LONE DEMOCRAT siding with the republicans to defeat Feinstein's bill to limit torture this past week!
It's time to get tough and let him know how we feel in Florida! Join us in this summer campaign to put the HEAT on BILL NELSON! CODEPINK Florida has formed a yahoo group called FloridaForPeace to unite all peacemakers in all peace organizations across the state for the next two to three months so that we can truly work together to get the message through to Bill how unhappy we are with his performance! We are asking for personal meetings in every one of his Florida offices.
If you would like to be kept abreast of the plans and help us with creative ideas this summer, please join us here:

Dear Florida CODEPINKers:
I would like to invite you to join CODEPINK Florida, a brand new umbrella for our efforts in Florida. Mother's Day in DC was so inspirational and bonding. All of the Florida CODEPINK women who were there agreed that we want to and should do as much together as we can. We have a new state wide group called CODEPINK Florida and it won't be the same without you and your group.
We are focusing our statewide efforts on Senator Nelson and asking him to meet with us and to stop funding and supporting the Iraq war. For the "Focus on Nelson" action we have formed a small umbrella group and we are inviting ALL Florida Peacemakers to come on board. CODEPINK National is willing to assist us along the way.
To join the group please go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FloridaForPeace/ and sign up. The entire plan to "Focus on Nelson" in Florida this summer can be found at the yahoo group, at www.flaction.org and at www.tnjp.org
This is a marathon, not a sprint. We know everyone is frustrated and sick and tired of continued war funding. What is worse is that Senator Bill Nelson is also continuing to vote for funds for torture. He was the lone democrat who voted against Feinstein's bill to limit funding torture. It's time he spoke to us IN PERSON.
Our goal is to get appointments with the Senator in every one of his Florida offices. His constituents deserve an opportunity to express their concerns and should not have to drive hundreds of miles to meet with him. We may have to remind him that he works for us.
Senator Bill Nelson is the one person that Florida Democrats have in common. Let's unite. Let our voices be heard.
You are invited to join a state-wide conference call this Wednesday night, June 6th, at 8:30 pm to discuss plans for actions in and around Senator Nelson's offices in June.
To join the call, email me and I'll send you the number and code. Send an email to: codepinktally@yahoo.com
When on the call, you can press 6 when you want to "mute" and just listen. There are no additional charges for this call, just the cost of a long distance call.
Again, join the call: Wednesday, June 6th - 8:30 PM
RSVP to codepinktally@yahoo.com
I will be on the road traveling to Senator Nelson's offices (see the list below) for visits with the staff in the coming weeks. If you would like to join me in this effort, please contact me by email! I look forward to hearing from you.
Peace Always,
Lydia Vickers

"TOWARD A RESPONSIBLE TRANSITION IN IRAQ"
Monday, October 16th 2006 7:00 PM
Tallahassee, Florida
Tallahassee CodePINK will join Pax Christi during their panel discussion next Monday night.
This panel discussion is inspired by a direct call from the Florida Catholic Conference, The Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee Justice and Peace Commission and the Just Faith Program.
Bishop Thomas Wenski, Bishop of Orlando has requested that the church become involved in a solution to the occupation of Iraq, immediately.
PAX Christi, the Catholic Peace Movement, believes that the gospel calls us to become people of nonviolence. They promote non- violence in their own personal lives, in the church and in the international community.
Tallahassee CodePINK will share Medea Benjamin's narrative, "Iraq: Let the Negotiations Begin".
Location:
Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas Moore, O'Brien Hall 900 West Tennessee Street (at Woodward and W. Tenn St.) Tallahassee Florida 32310
Give
Peace a Vote! What if millions decided to vote their
conscience and said 'No More War Candidates'?
The Voters Pledge makes visible a powerful political force, the peace
vote, a force that politicians cannot continue to ignore. It sends a clear
message to the hawkish minority that leads both major parties to end the
occupation of Iraq and to end unprovoked attacks on other nations. Join
Cher, Yoko Ono, Kate Hudson and Samuel L. Jackson in signing the Voters Pledge
and ask
at least 10 of your friends to sign as well. Let's put PEACE
at the top of the ballot in 2006! Click here to see latest action photos!
